From Disaster to Triumph

The power of the words we use and how it affects the way we think is crucial. There are many examples I could discuss in this post, but sometimes simplicity is easier to understand, since it is direct and the message is not lost. In the following quote, the word disaster is used. I am going to change that word and it will change the meaning of the statement which will highlight the power of the spoken and written word.

"Today, as never before, the fates of men are so intimately linked to one another that a disaster for one is a disaster for everybody."

— A verse from The Little Virtues, 1962 by Natalia Ginzburg

Change

Today, as never before, the fates of men are so intimately linked to one another that a Triumph for one is a Triumph for everybody.

By changing one word the entire statement is reversed from a negative to a positive statement. Words illustrate our thoughts and impact others who hear them. I choose the positive affirmations.

Have a great day
